π¦₯ When slowing down helps us move forward β©οΈSometimes the most valuable thing we can offer isn't an answer.π It's the space to think differently.Much of my work involves supporting people, teams and organisations to explore complex challenges where there isn't a simple solution.β By the time we meet, people have usually received plenty of advice.βΈοΈ What they haven't always had is the time and space to pause, reflect and view the situation through a different lens.Recently, I had the pleasure of spending time with Somerset Public Health's Healthier Lifestyles team.Afterwards, one participant reflected:π¨οΈ "Really appreciated Sarah's time, insight and candour, sharing about her own pathways and how she works through the difficulties of neurodivergence."Reading this reminded me how easily deficit-based language can find its way into conversations about difference.π Not because people are being unkind.π Not because they don't value difference.π± Because challenge and limitation are often the first stories our culture teaches us to associate with it.Part of my role is helping people explore another perspective.π« Not by correcting language.π« Not by suggesting there's a right or wrong way to think.β¨ But by creating enough space for curiosity and asking…β What happens when we move from asking "What's wrong?" to "What's happening?"π‘ What changes when we look for strengths alongside challenges?π What becomes possible when we recognise that every perspective reveals something and hides something else? For me, this is where the greatest value of partnership lies.π» Professional expertise.π» Operational expertise.π» Community expertise.π» Lived experience.π Each offers a different lens.π Each helps us see something we might otherwise miss. When those perspectives are given equal value:π¬ Conversations become deeper.π€ People become less defensive.π New possibilities emerge.I often describe my role as joining the conversation rather than leading it.πͺ’ Not holding all the answers.πͺ’ Not owning the expertise.Simply contributing another viewpoint and helping others do the same.Because everyone in the room is already an expert in something.β¨ Reflective question:Where might a shift from judgement to curiosity change the conversation you're having right now?π± Outgrow Your Ordinary π±#OutgrowYourOrdinary #NeuroinclusiveLeadership #StrengthBasedPractice #InclusiveLeadership #CultureChange #LivedExperience #CuriosityOverJudgement #PublicHealth
You might of noticed a lot of my posts right now are on Procrastination. This is partly because I'm preparing to do a workshop on Overcoming Procrastination at Wellington Women In Business (WWIB).But more importantly because I see and hear so many people beating themselves up for procrastinating. Not realising that they are not doing something wrong, they've just been taught by society that unless we can be productive in a way that has value in our culture there's something wrong with us.Personally it really sadens me to see this. Most of the time these gorgeous human beings are doing an epic job. Juggling much more than they or society at large credits them for. So when they then ask even more of themselves and struggle, they believe they are failures.I'm here to say procrastion is your body and mind's attempt to slow you down, to give you the heads up that perhaps something else is going on.I'd really love to know your take on this. Comment, share, like and lets get this conversation live and out there, so less people feel they're failing and realise they are alre#outgrowyourordinaryw#selfcarer#neuroinclusiver#wellnesscoachc#overcomingprocrastinationesscoach #overcomingprocrastination
